Dr. Gurley presenting his keynote address to staff this week, "What We Face, We Can Change,"

“What We Face, We Can Change”

Superintendent Dr. Royal Gurley welcomed back our staff of 800 this week with an inspirational keynote about closing the achievement gap for Black students. “Yes, we have Black students who achieve at high levels, but we need more of our Black students to achieve at even higher levels. Now is the time to raise our expectations and the bar for our students. To demonstrate urgency. To commit, collectively, to doing better for all of our kids."

All registered families will receive the 2025-26 CCS wall calendar in the mail in the coming days. The calendar includes a family handbook and is chock full of student art, including the cover by rising 9th grader Nadia Salazar Fraire.

Included in your mailing is a printout of the single-page 2025-26 at-a-glance calendar. We also recommend subscribing to our Google “Academic Calendar” to keep up with days off. Visit our calendar page to learn more.

Also inside your calendar mailing is a Cville City Schools removable sticker so you can show your public-school pride on your car's bumper or rearview window!
